Columbia State Student's Short Story Featured in National Sigma Kappa Delta Journal

Olivia Ferrara, a Columbia State Community College student, recently had her short story featured in the Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Society journal, Hedera helix. The journal, with submissions from community college students from across the country, features short stories, photography, poetry, essays and more. Ferrara, a Columbia native, received first place in the Short Fiction category with her piece, "Ears to Hear, and Eyes to See." She also received a $500 award for her work.

Columbia State Students Inducted Into Sigma Kappa Delta Honor Society

Columbia State students were inducted into Sigma Kappa Delta, the national English honor society for two-year colleges. The honor society promotes honors excellence in English, and members enjoy writing, reading, discussion and fellowship. Membership is open to students who have completed one college English course and who maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher in English and other scholarship.

Columbia State Announces Largest Induction into Honor Society in History

The Beta Theta Kappa Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has completed its single largest induction of students into the honor society in its history. 100 new students have brought the total number of Honor Society students to more than 300. "This year is record setting for Columbia State," said President Smith. "The 100 new members of Phi Theta Kappa is the single largest class of honor society inductees in our history." Membership was extended to the following students:
